The Complete Guide to Dua After Adhan
The Dua after Adhan is one of the most rewarding acts a Muslim can perform five times a day. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ explicitly promised his intercession (Shafa'ah) on the Day of Judgment to anyone who consistently recites this supplication — making it one of the most accessible yet powerful acts of worship.
What is Al-Waseelah?
In the main dua, we ask Allah to grant the Prophet ﷺ Al-Waseelah — a rank in Paradise so high that only one person can occupy it. The Prophet ﷺ told us: "Al-Waseelah is a station in Paradise, and it belongs to one servant of Allah. I hope to be that servant. Whoever asks for Al-Waseelah for me, my intercession will be obligatory for him." (Sahih Muslim)
Can You Make Personal Dua After Adhan?
Yes! The time between the Adhan and the Iqamah is one of the special times when dua is accepted. The Prophet ﷺ said: "The dua made between the Adhan and Iqamah is not rejected." (Abu Dawud, Hasan). So after reciting the Adhan dua, make any personal supplications for your health, family, rizq, or hereafter.
What to Say During "Hayya alas-Salah"?
For every other phrase of the Adhan, you simply repeat what the Mu'adhdhin says. But when he says "Hayya 'alas-Salah" (Come to prayer) and "Hayya 'alal-Falah" (Come to success), instead of repeating it, say: La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah (There is no power and no strength except with Allah).
