Divine CureProphetic Uses & Medicine
Stomach Illnesses
A man came to the Prophet ﷺ saying his brother had stomach trouble (diarrhea). The Prophet ﷺ said, "Let him drink honey." He returned three times saying it didn't work. The Prophet said, "Allah has spoken the truth and your brother's stomach has lied." He drank it a fourth time and was cured. (Bukhari)
Honey Water in the Morning
The Prophet ﷺ loved to drink cold water mixed with honey on an empty stomach in the morning. This is an excellent detoxifier, aids digestion, and provides immediate, sustained energy for the day.
The Three Ultimate Cures
The Prophet ﷺ said: "Healing is in three things: A gulp of honey, cupping (Hijama), and branding with fire (cauterizing). But I forbid my followers to use (cauterization) branding with fire." (Bukhari)
Wound Healing (Modern Science)
Because raw honey is anti-bacterial and has low moisture, bacteria cannot survive in it. Historically and in modern medicine, it is used directly on cuts, burns, and wounds to prevent infection and speed up tissue repair.
Important Notes on Honey
Raw vs Processed
To get the true medicinal benefits mentioned in the Quran, honey must be raw, unpasteurized, and unfiltered. Most supermarket honey is heated, which destroys the beneficial enzymes and pollen.
Varying Colors
The Quran specifically mentions "varying in colors." The color and medicinal properties of honey change based on which flowers the bees visit (e.g., Manuka, Sidr, Buckwheat).
Sidr Honey
Sidr honey is derived from the Lote tree (which is mentioned in the Quran as being in Paradise). It is considered one of the most potent, medicinal, and expensive honeys in the world.
