Understanding the Penalties

The Mandatory Hady

If you perform Hajj Al-Tamattu (Umrah then Hajj) or Hajj Al-Qiran (Umrah & Hajj combined), offering a sacrifice is mandatory to show gratitude. It is not a penalty for a sin.

The Fidyah (Expiation)

If you commit a violation of Ihram (like needing to shave your head due to lice, or wearing stitched clothes due to severe cold), you must pay a Fidyah. The options are: Sacrifice one sheep, OR fast 3 days, OR feed 6 poor people in Makkah.

Missing a Wajib

If you omit an obligatory act (like crossing Miqat without Ihram, or not throwing pebbles), you must sacrifice a sheep (Dam) in Makkah and distribute its meat to the poor of the Haram. You cannot eat from this meat.
