Enter a keyword or a phrase from a hadith you saw on social media. We will generate a direct search link to Sunnah.com, the largest verified Hadith database online.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automated tools cannot definitively declare a hadith authentic or fabricated without relying on classical scholarship. The Science of Hadith (Mustalah al-Hadith) requires analyzing the Isnad (chain of narrators) and the Matn (text). Always consult a qualified scholar if you cannot find the hadith in verified databases like Sahih Bukhari or Sahih Muslim.
The 4 Classifications of Hadith
Sahih (Authentic)
A flawless chain of narrators who are entirely reliable, pious, and possessed excellent memory. It does not contradict stronger narrations and has no hidden defects. You can act upon these with absolute certainty.
Hasan (Good)
Similar to Sahih, but one or more narrators in the chain might have a slightly lesser (but still acceptable) memory. Hasan hadiths are fully acceptable for establishing Islamic rulings and laws.
Da'if (Weak)
A hadith that fails to meet the conditions of Sahih or Hasan. This could be due to a missing link in the chain or a narrator with poor memory. Scholars say they can be used for encouraging good deeds, but not for establishing Islamic laws.
Mawdu' (Fabricated)
A forged statement falsely attributed to the Prophet ﷺ. The chain contains a known liar. It is strictly forbidden to share these or act upon them unless it is to warn others that they are fake.
