Who was Imam an-Nawawi?

Abu Zakaria Mohiuddin Yahya ibn Sharaf al-Nawawi (1233–1277 CE) was a Syrian scholar of hadith and jurisprudence. Despite passing away at the young age of 44, his contribution to Islamic scholarship was monumental. His works, including Riyad as-Salihin (The Meadows of the Righteous) and his commentary on Sahih Muslim, are universally accepted and widely read across the Muslim world.
