The Islamic Way of Eating
In Islam, even eating is an act of worship when done with the proper intention and adhab (etiquette). The Prophet ﷺ laid down detailed guidelines for eating that combine spiritual mindfulness with practical hygiene and community values.
Why Eat with the Right Hand?
The Prophet ﷺ said: "Do not eat with your left hand, for Shaytaan eats with his left hand." (Sahih Muslim). This is one of the clearest and most consistently practiced Sunnahs during meals.
The Reward of Saying Alhamdulillah After Eating
The Prophet ﷺ said: "Allah is pleased with His servant who says 'Alhamdulillah' after eating his food or drinking his drink." (Sahih Muslim). This simple statement transforms every meal into a moment of gratitude and worship that earns divine pleasure.
