Step-by-Step Wudu

Follow the authentic sequence of wudu (ablution) before each prayer. This guide is based on the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and is ideal for beginners and regular worshippers alike.

  1. Intention (Niyyah): Make the intention silently in your heart to perform wudu for prayer. Begin by saying Bismillah (In the name of Allah).
  2. Hands: Wash both hands up to the wrists three times, ensuring water reaches between the fingers.
  3. Mouth: Rinse the mouth with the right hand three times, swirling water inside thoroughly.
  4. Nose: Sniff water into the nose using the right hand and gently blow it out with the left hand three times.
  5. Face: Wash the entire face from hairline to chin and ear to ear three times.
  6. Arms: Wash the right arm up to and including the elbow three times, then repeat on the left arm three times.
  7. Head: Wipe the head once with wet hands, passing from the forehead to the nape and back to the forehead.
  8. Ears: Wipe the inside and outside of both ears once with wet fingers.
  9. Feet: Wash the right foot up to the ankle three times, then wash the left foot three times, making sure water reaches between the toes.
Note: Some scholars recommend adding the Dua after Wudu and reciting Ayat al-Kursi or Surah Al-Ikhlas for extra reward. This guide focuses on the essential steps and correct order.
