Key Environmental Principles
Planting as Charity
Planting trees is considered a "Sadaqah Jariyah" (ongoing charity). As long as the tree provides shade, oxygen, or fruit to humans or animals, the one who planted it continues to receive reward, even after death.
Water Conservation
Islam strictly prohibits the wastage of water. Even during the spiritual act of ablution (Wudu) required for prayer, Muslims are commanded to use minimal water, even if standing next to a rushing river.
Protected Zones (Hima)
The Prophet ﷺ established wildlife and nature reserves called 'Hima', where cutting down trees or hunting animals was strictly forbidden to protect the local ecosystem and biodiversity.
